Leave no one behind: A call to action for gender equality and women’s economic empowerment

This report looks at ways to accelerate progress to close gender gaps to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. The report notes that constraints on women’s economic empowerment are rooted in unaddressed gender inequalities in society – including overarching and systemic discriminatory social norms which prevent women from finding decent jobs on equal footing with men. It calls for tackling adverse social norms and promoting positive role models, breaking stereotypes by tackling social norms and promoting positive role models, changing norms around STEM, promoting male champions of change for tackling gender norms and implementing quotas as a way to improve gender representation.
