Social norms change for women’s financial inclusion
- Published by: The Consultative Group to Assist the Poor
This brief discusses the role that women’s financial inclusion plays in economic empowerment by looking at insights from social norm change theory and reviewing current practices regarding gendered approaches to financial inclusion. It advocates that women’s financial inclusion and empowerment programmes incorporate a social-norms dimension in their diagnostic work – exploring how women use existing financial services, expectations of women as financial actors, and perceptions around access and ownership of technology.
