Disasters and violence against women and girls. Can disasters shake norms and power relations?

This short literature review explores whether the alleged ‘window of opportunity’ created by disasters allow affected-societies to change societal structures. The literature suggests that people’s traditional roles and gender norms are re-emphasised and gender inequalities often worsen after an emergency.
