One of the best known applications of social norms theory has been to address the practice of female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C). Factorial focus group analysis is a powerful method for understanding the constellation of norms and patterns of norm change. The analytic methods described in this working paper can be used to study social norm change not only regarding FGM/C, but for a wide range of issues such as those surrounding child marriage, adoption of contraception, and other behaviours.

The final version of this working paper is forthcoming and will be hosted in the Resource Hub once published.
